Jon Guinther

As the President of Classic Student Tours, Jon Guinther leads a premier, family-owned student tour operator based in Dayton, Ohio. For over four years, Jon has proudly owned and directed the company, upholding its trusted legacy of creating customized educational travel experiences for student groups—a tradition the company has maintained since 1985. While his active ownership spans over four years, his highly specialized expertise in the student travel industry extends well beyond two decades. With more than 20 years of dedicated student travel experience under his belt, Jon is incredibly passionate about helping schools, teachers, and administrators turn standard classroom lessons into memorable, real-world learning adventures for their students across Southwest Ohio and beyond.

A Deep-Rooted Foundation in Education

Long before he took the helm at Classic Student Tours, Jon dedicated 19 years of his life to the classroom as a middle school teacher. This extensive, hands-on background as a former educator is the essential cornerstone of his approach to educational travel. Jon holds esteemed degrees from both Wright State University and Xavier University, and he furthered his academic journey by earning a Master's degree in Educational Administration. Because he intimately understands the distinct daily challenges and needs of teachers and school administrators, Jon knows exactly how to connect engaging travel itineraries with strict curriculum goals. He leverages this firsthand knowledge of educational requirements and student engagement to ensure that every trip provides genuine academic value alongside the sheer excitement of traveling to new places.

Decades of Specialized Student Travel Expertise

Jon's 20-plus years of student travel expertise allow Classic Student Tours to offer time-tested, carefully crafted programs that leave a lasting impact on young minds. Whether he is designing custom trips to the historic monuments of Washington, D.C., the hallowed battlefields of Gettysburg, or the bustling, culturally rich streets of New York City and Chicago, Jon ensures every single detail is expertly managed. He works collaboratively with educators to build personalized itineraries that perfectly align with specific learning objectives, schedules, and district budgets. Under his experienced leadership, students travel safely via deluxe motor coaches and are completely immersed in educational experiences that bring history, science, and culture to life outside the classroom.

Unwavering Commitment to Community Leadership

Beyond his professional endeavors, Jon is deeply invested in his local community and remains fiercely passionate about guiding and mentoring the next generation. He is highly active in Scouting America, dedicating a significant amount of his personal time to helping young people build strong character, learn valuable outdoor skills, and develop lifelong leadership qualities. Additionally, Jon is a proud and active member of his local Optimists Club, a celebrated community service organization dedicated to bringing out the best in youth and fostering a positive, encouraging environment for children to thrive. His ongoing community involvement perfectly mirrors his professional mission of uplifting, supporting, and educating young minds at every opportunity.

Family Life and a Lifelong Passion for Exploration

When he isn't busy coordinating the perfect educational getaway for local schools, Jon is actively involved in the bustling lives of his three children. With two kids currently navigating the rigors of college and one still in middle school, he understands the profound importance of family and stays heavily engaged in their academic and extracurricular pursuits. Naturally, Jon's professional love for student travel is matched only by his love for personal travel and discovery. He is an avid explorer who cherishes experiencing new destinations with his loved ones. Just this past summer, he combined his passion for family and the great outdoors by taking them on an unforgettable, awe-inspiring journey to visit all of the breathtaking National Parks across the state of Utah.
